Allergy
Advisor Uses Survey Results to Launch a New Professional Development Newsletter
Results
from a market research survey jointly run in the Spring of 2002 by Allergy
Resources International (ARI) and the Nu Connexions professional nutrition software
portal have led to the launch of a new professional development e-mail
newsletter. Targeted towards dietitians and other health professionals
interested in the field of food allergies and intolerances, the free 1-2 page
newsletter will be edited by Dr. Harris Steinman of South Africa, Professor
Janice Joneja (RD) of Canada, and Sabine Spiesser (RD) of Australia. Other
professional-quality e-mail newsletters pertaining to food allergy research and
new developments of interest to food and health professionals as well as the
food industry are available through ARI. Below you will find descriptions
(written by ARI staff) of these free e-mail newsletters and instructions about
how to subscribe.

Allergy Advisor Educational Newsletter:
Our Educational Newsletter covers the field of allergy and
intolerance and is distributed via e-mail. The dietitian Karen du Plessis compiles
the newsletter. The chief editors are Dr. Harris Steinman (South Africa),
Prof. Janice Joneja (dietitian, Canada) and Sabine Spiesser (dietitian,
Australia). The newsletter focuses on a different topic each month, illustrated
by a case study. The study includes a step-by-step guide to clinical
approaches
and an information piece on the allergy/intolerance in question. CPD
accreditation is awarded in South Africa and will soon be available in other
countries. Stay tuned....
Food
Matters Newsletter:
We
are launching a new newsletter on the 26th January 2004. This
newsletter will focus on a different allergen or other substance each month
and will be packed with information to enhance the education of the food
industry in allergen backgrounds, detection, and exclusion, along with relevant
labeling regulations and production management strategies.
Our aim is for this
newsletter to be a gateway to information to assist companies in
developing new products that are allergy-friendly, and in making the
transition to new labeling laws. We will link in one newsletter
worldwide trends, laws and new products.
