The various search engines periodically change their "calculation algorithms" to combat those who try to deceive the search engines regarding the true content of their websites.  These "algorithms" are used to rank the relevance of sites to a web-searcher's query.  Naturally, these algorithms are kept as secret as possible by the search engine companies.
