Food Smart 5's New Advanced Features:
"Some kid in his basement" has arrived, and is rivalling the foodservice & nutrition care management
"big leaguers"....

As a reseller of a number of food, nutrition and fitness-related software packages, and a contracting specialist providing training and implementation services to facilities who have purchased nutrition care and foodservice management software systems, I have the opportunity to see the strengths and weaknesses of many software packages.

As I indicated in Issue # 1 of this occasional online newsletter, I have been extensively involved in testing and providing constructive feedback during the development of Sasquatch Software Corporation's next release of Food Smart.  Seldom have I been so enthusiastic about the debut of a software system's release.  Whether you're a nutrition and foodservice manager, a chef or culinary artiste, food company or product developer, researcher or clinical RD, Food Smart 5 has new features worth looking at!

Read on for more details...

Before we get into what I consider to be "the big news" about Sasquatch Software Corporation's Food Smart 5 software, a bit of background information about the driving force behind the new features is in order. (Screenshots and more detailed descriptions of these new features can be viewed by clicking here.)

Many of Food Smart 5's new features have been developed to support new foodservice production and nutrition care management functions, including:

  • Production runs for designated menus, people and sites.
  • Trial scheduling to manage potential problems and conflicts associated with individual dietary needs and preferences.
  • Setting up dietary attributes assigned to food items, recipes, menus and people.  These attributes are used to manage allergies, intolerances, dislikes or preferences, and more.  Furthermore, setting these attributes at the food item level results in recipes that use this food item to automatically inherit these attributes!
  • Preliminary fields for an upcoming inventory management add-on.

Read on for the "big news" about Food Smart 5's flexibility and the associated benefits for users...
