User-Assigned Importance Ratings of Nutrition Care Management Features

In the third section of the questionnaire, respondents were asked to rate the level of importance they would assign to a number of features related to nutrition care management software.  (This functional area of management is related to, but not the same as, the  diet office management functional area.)  The number of respondents who gave ratings of "Important" or "Extremely Important" are summarized in the table below.  To view complete statistics of all ratings assigned by respondents to these questions, click here (a separate browser window will open).

  • The following features and attributes received an "Extremely Important" rating from more than 40% of respondents: 
    • At 71.2% of respondents, interest appears to be extremely high in the ability for the application to automatically flag potential drug/nutrient interactions.  This interest is reflected in the recent release of the CDROM-based and web-based IBIS Guide to Drug-Herb and Drug-Nutrient Interactions.  It would be interesting to see integration of this new database with existing nutrition care management software systems. 
    • An ability to maintain nutritional assessment and follow-up progress reports. 
    • An ability to select which nutrients will be displayed in nutrient intake analysis reports. 
    • An ability to estimate the following requirements for not only healthy individuals, but also for ill or injured individuals: 
      • energy 
      • protein 
      • fluid requirements (by 38.8% of respondents)
